Singapore is one of the cities that I love going back to because there’s always something new to see every now and then. Vacationing in the Lion City has been an annual affair for the past years and the country is a true source of inspiration and a constant feed of fresh perspective. A modern city that’s buzzing with current concepts that for sure will thrill anyone.
My recent Singapore trip was quite a short one – only 5 days to be precise. The plan was just to chill and relax. No plotted itinerary – just go on discount shopping (since it’s still Great Singapore Sale season), meet-up with Singapore-based friends and eat out. Well, it was about 80% piggin’ out to be honest! haha.
So, what’s new SG? Here’s a quick list of what’s new in the Lion City that you might be interested on visiting. The list consists of two (2) new restaurants featuring famous characters from Japanese cartoons, and a water+laser show!
1.Pokemon Cafe by EWF.
EWF or Everything with Fries at Bugis will be the home of Pikachu and his Pokemon friends in Singapore until July 31, 2016. The pop-up restaurant seats about 40 customers at a time, so expect to wait in queue for about 30 to 90 minutes. Food and drinks are shaped and formed into cutie-patootie-and-soo-instagrammable Pikachus. Who wouldn’t fall for that? 😛
We ordered the sets where we get to take home a Pokemon Cafe Pokeball mug – Pikachu Smiling Rice Omellete with Magma Sauce (SGD25++) and Pikachu’s Sweeeeet Pancake (SGD20++). And hot and iced Caffe Lattes (SGD8++ and SGD9++).
Address: Bugis Junction EwF Outlet 04-05
Operating Hours: 11am-10pm daily (Last order at 9:30PM.)
2. Hello Kitty Orchid Garden
Meeee-yaw! I personally think that this cafe has the formula to having their customers keep on coming back for more – with great food, awesome service, cute ambiance and yeah, Hello Kitty! The cafe resembles a garden blooming with lush greenery and opulent flowers amidst an elaborate rustic setting. The staff are very helpful and smiling, you’ll feel the warm welcome the moment you enter the restaurant. The food are beautifully presented and are delectably appettizing, and I am not kitting (teehee)! Tried the Kitty Meets Benedict, Twice! made with Eggs Benedict topped with a generous blanket of Hollandaise sauce- done two ways in yuzu and dill. Crisp focaccia toast topped with smoked salmon and duck. Entrees price range is from SGD16.90 up.
3. Wings of Time
The show is first of its kind with a signature larger-than-life water screen with multimedia effects including 3D projection mapping, state-of-the-art lasers, robotic water fountains and giant water jets and pyrotechnics.
Here’s the Synopsis.
The adventure begins with Shahbaz, a pre-historic bird-like creature. Together with his friends, Rachel and Felix, they travel across beautiful landscapes and the mysteries of time. Their journey brings them through artistic interpretations of the British Industrialisation Revolution, the Silk Road era, Mayan Pyramids, Underwater World and African Savanna. His friends discover more about themselves – they find the courage to be more than who they think they were.
Tickets are at SGD18 and SGD23 for Normal and Premium Seats for both 7:40pm and 8:40PM shows at the Wings of Time Theatre Sentosa.
