The beach is always a good place to escape. A tranquil scenery and a quiet spot would be the best getaway for a quick downtime from the hurly burly of our day-to-day routine. I, together with Cebu Fashion Blogger friends Ronah, Mariana and Marco, went on an out of town weekend vacation to Panglao. With only two nights to laze in Bohol, we wanted the retreat to be restful, yet fun.
We started the weekend with an overnight stay in Momo Beach House Panglao. Alighting from the fast craft in Tagbilaran Bohol from Cebu, our group was welcomed by the resort’s driver. He was really amiable, answering my questions the best way he can. “How many minutes is the travel from the port to Momo Beach House kuya,” I asked. “About 30 minutes sir,” he replied politely. “Why is the resort called Momo Beach House? Is it because there’s a mumu in the resort,” I jokingly asked. He gave out a laugh and shared “Perhaps it is because the sea fronting the resort is abundant with molmol fish, and in Bohol, we call them momo, thus the name Momo Beach House.”
The charming resort boutique chalks up in hues of white and blue, which is very similar to Santorini. At the same time, it is teeming with tropical greens giving out a Bali vibe. The wood accents form clean patterns that are easy on the eyes. Momo Beach House is thoughtful enough to think of little things and details – like a foot brush stand for sandy feet and fresh towels with beautiful gumamela flowers at each of the poolside beds. The beach front may not be that long, but with only sixteen guest rooms at Momo Beach House, the accommodation feels very exclusive.
Rooms at Momo Beach House, Panglao
I was roomies with fellow CFB admin Marco Diala, sharing this beautiful and sunny 2-bed deluxe suite at the second floor, east wing of the property. Toiletries and bath essentials were provided during our stay. Intriguingly, the toiletries are made from natural ingredients and are 100% biodegradable. So yaaay for Mother Earth!
Each room is different from the other, each one sleek, chic and vibrant. The accommodation is not just appealing, but also really comfortable. Good beds and pillows is one of the main criteria for an awesome accommodation, and Momo Beach House did not fail to deliver.
Plus the view from the walkway on the second floor is stunning! Check out the pool photos below for proof. 😉
The Food at Momo Beach House
Arriving at the property, we were given welcome refreshments – a glass of thirst-quenching iced pandan tea, while we were checking in. We then settled in at our respective rooms before we headed to the beach front to gobble up on the midday boodle fight spread. YUM! The boodle fight spread is a special set-up and needs to be arranged prior to your stay.
Banana fritters and citrus infused water were served during the mid-afternoon snacks at the lobby.
As the sun begins to fall, we had cocktails by the beach – signature beverages paired with sweet potato chips seemed to be perfect pre-dinner combo! And those sweet potatoes are delish!
For dinner, a filling Italian feast by the beach – salad, fresh from the oven marinara pizza and aglio olio pasta.
And the day starts with a good breakfast buffet spread, which includes local favorites like dried dangit, dried squid and chorizo de Bohol.
Basically, all the foodstuff you need is available at the resort. Whenever you get hungry, you can get your fill by visiting the all-day dining F&B outlet situated at the resort lobby lounge. Okay, maybe bringing some junkfood wouldn’t hurt. 😛
Activities at Momo Beach House
I spent the early afternoon of the first day at the resort kayaking with Marco and Ronah, while Mariana was on the SUP board. Then went swimming in the pool later in the afternoon.
Other activities include foosball and yoga. Snorkling at a nearby marine sanctuary is also a good idea.
Momo Beach House is straight to the point, no fuss resort. The property’s laid back ambiance and exclusivity were the main qualities that won me over. I was looking forward to a restful, quiet but fun vacay and I did. Momo Beach House did not disappoint, even exceeding my expectation. Can’t wait to be back!
