Taking the bus is an affordable option when traveling from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. The ride takes 6-7 hours though, so it’s not for travelers with a tight itinerary. I have taken the last bus scheduled for the day leaving Singapore at 10:00PM/11:00PM a few times already which saved me bucks for a night accommodation; and arriving in Kuala Lumpur 5-ish in the morning gave me an extra full day to explore the city.
Buying a Bus Ticket from SG to KL
I would usually go for the night bus, but I took the first Aeroline Bus trip of the day to Kuala Lumpur during my recent trip. I booked a one way ticket from SG to KL online, a night prior to the trip and hopped on the 8:00AM bus from Maritime Square HarbourFront Centre bound for Malaysia’s capital city. Tickets can be purchased at this website, https://www.aeroline.com.my/.
Listed below are the Aeroline bus schedules from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, and to other parts of Malaysia.
Getting to the Aeroline Lounge/ Bus Station in Singapore.
The Aeroline Lounge is situated exactly at this address: No. #02-52, 1 Maritime Square, HarbourFront Centre, Singapore 099253. Tickets purchased online need to be validated at the Aeroline Counter. Just show your booking confirmation and passport, then a boarding ticket will be issued right after. Passengers are required to be at the Aeroline lounge at least 30 minutes before the departure time.
The lounge serves as a waiting area for passengers, before boarding commences 15 minutes before the departure time. Lockers and luggage locks are also available for waiting guests. There are fastfood restaurants, coffee shops and convenient stores near the lounge so you can buy snacks and drinks before boarding.
When boarding begins, passengers will have to go to the first floor of Maritime Square where the buses are parked. The attendant will call on the passengers at the lounge when it’s already time for boarding. Luggages and bags are to be carried personally by the passengers to the bus.
SG & MY Immigration
Each passenger needs to alight twice for immigration clearance. First at Singapore border, and the next one at Malaysian immigration. When going down the bus to exit Singapore immigration, you need to prepare your passport. Be sure to memorize the plate number of the bus for you will have to find the exact same bus at the parking station after you’ve been cleared at the SG immigration.
Entering Malaysia, each passenger has to bring all his/her luggages and bags from the bus and pass through Malaysian immigration and customs counters. Then after passing both stations, hop on the bus again and enjoy the ride to Kuala Lumpur. And yes, there’s going to be at least one stop for toilet break during the jaunt.
The Aeroline Bus
Soft, reclining seats with your personal entertainment system, plus food and drink, my Aeroline Bus ride delivered a smooth and comfortable journey. I had a good 3-hour nap during the trip. Do not expect the food to be at par with airline food quality though. So if you are a bit picky with food, I would suggest for you to buy some take-away from Singapore.
Welcome to Kuala Lumpur
The bus will arrive at Corus Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. A convenient drop-off as it’s within the city center, and easier to grab a cab, or catch a train from.
