Call me crazy but everytime I hear the word Dapitan, the last line of our National Anthem plays inside my head. “Ang mamatay ng dahil sa ‘yo.” Elementary history class must’ve made an impact on me. Haha. Well, Dapitan is historically significant as it’s where Jose Rizal has been exiled, and with Rizal considered as the national hero, Dapitan has reverently been dubbed as the “Shrine City of the Philippines.”
After a quick introduction with Zamboanga City last summer, the group carried on with our tri-city Zamoanga Peninsula tour, and said hello to Dapitan City. The brief three days, two nights were spent mostly in the beautiful Dakak Park and Beach Resort, plus a terse visit around the city and a swift swing to Dipolog.
Dakak is more than just a beach resort, but an adventure park as well. It even has a zipline within the property. I swear, this place will never bore you. Arriving in Dakak after lunch, we alighted at the property’s main reception where we were welcomed with drinks and cold towels, before proceeding to the jetty to hop on a quick boat ride to the resort’s beach front. Approaching the shore, folk dancers and singers surprised us with warm performances in their colorful tribal costumes.
Our accommodation was in the property’s new wing which I fondly call the “Sunset Suite.” Situated in the cliff at the resort’s east wing, the rooms on this side have the best view of the setting sun. The room gives out a romantic feel which is perfect for honeymooners. Plus, the jacuzzi at the patio makes the space even more whimsical. But the suite is not limited to just the lovebirds, it is also a wonderful weekend hideaway with friends.
Well, aside from the delectable dining and luxurious accommodation, Dakak offers more activities that a day is for sure not enough to cover all the things you need to experience. The property has sports amenities like 3 tennis courts, bowling & billiard alley and an international-grade golf course. Guests may also enjoy horseback riding, zipline, ATV, wake boarding, rock climbing, airsoft, scuba diving, Hobie cat and many more. And after a long day enjoying all the activities, be sure to book a relaxing spa session at the resort’s very own luxury spa villa.
Dakak Park and Beach Resort is truly a Dapitan gem. The quick 2-night stay is truly not enough to explore everything in the property but just the right amount of time to get enticed and decide that you’ll surely be back to experience all Dakak has to offer. Can’t wait to visit again!
