Today’s digital era has proved that it is indeed a small world after all; and a big credit goes to social media for making communication with anyone and anywhere around the globe fast and easy. But with every smile shared through selfies, every picture we <3 , or every blog we read, nothing beats the priceless feeling of meeting the people behind the social media accounts we follow in the flesh.
A few weeks ago, I organized a local instagram meet in Cebu in time for Earth Day and Worldwide Instameet 13 (WWiM13). Dubbed as #iLuvCebuInstameet: #LifeOnEarth, the April 23rd event aimed to spread awareness on Ocean Conservation, and ultimately give local instagrammers an avenue to converge and share best practices with other mobile photography enthusiasts in the area. Miss Scuba International 2013 First Runner-up Christine Paula Love Bernasor joined us in celebrating the global WWiM13 theme Life on Earth, who also conveyed her knowledge on her advocacy to the participants. Entrants then translated that environment protection message through their instagram snaps. Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu was the perfect backdrop for the second installment of #iLuvCebuInstameet as they have expressed the same passion for environment conservation, even garnering Green Globe Certificates for their efforts.
To be honest, organizing an instameet is not easy. Nah-uh! You spare many sleepless nights preparing for the props to be used during the event, messaging the registrants and contacting partners and suppliers to make sure all are set for the big day. But I refuse to show up looking tired and exhausted, even if I am way under pressure. And sprucing up in a simple, stylish and comfortable was a quick fix to a whole day inclusive of standing and walking for long hours, making sure everything is going a-ok! Much thanks to my Sky Slip-On by Freewaters for the much needed comfort that made me last the day. The grey “sophisticasual” Sky Slip-on is insanely light, highly cushioned with an extra thick insole. It is made of highly breathable perforated smartsuede making sure my feet do not drown in sweat. I had my Freewaters pair since January, which I use not just on casual dress down days, but even on casual chic gatherings.
Plus, Freewaters stands on its commitment to transform lives with water. Every 1% of the gross sales go directly to fund the water projects of Freewaters. There are a number of wells being built in Kenya, as well as water filtering system that are being distributed in Haiti— all because of Freewaters customers worldwide. You can say that every pair becomes a step towards clean water to the people who need it the most. So that’s a big YAY for Mother Earth and humanity! <3
Freewaters Footwear is available at Res|Toe|Run Ayala Center Cebu and Res|Toe|Run Galleria and is exclusively distributed in the Philippines by the Primer Group of Companies.
